Here is another recent day where clipart saved the day. The sketch is from the client. The grape clusters were clipart that was modified by blending different pieces of clipart by merged layers in ver 2009 of ArtCAM. The woven branches are just mangled vectors with the weave tool.

Same principal as the other posts. Make it look like a lot of work and charge a lot. Then go out and play a little more. :D

I have some CD albums and I want to make a large piece of art from this. But I don’t have any clue and I need you help. Should I look for online help? Are there any real help? I am also looking for any helpful software to make this. Does anyone ever hear about such software? If so, please let me know asap. Thanking you,

Randy, could you explain to me what you mean by "clipart?"
Thanks,
Dwight

Hi,

Clipart in this case is prepared reliefs that are generally sold online. There are a number of companies providing this service and your ArtCAM disc comes with a fair amount of clipart reliefs in the relief libraries.

Some of the best 3d clipart is actually sculpted - usually in clay and at a larger scale. It is then laser scanned and transformed into some sort of 3D model, either reliefs or stl format.

With ArtCAM, it is possible to draw a vector or two around a specific area of a clipart design and use it over and over again. In this case, I modified the grape cluster and added a few details that brought the clipart closer to the customers design. If I had to model this, it would have taken a great deal more time and been prohibitively expensive. The company I got this from is 3Dmodelclub.com. Take a second to look at their work. And if anyone else has a useful source, post that here too. You can never have too many sources.
